International Remittance About To Take Off

The mobile payment market is expanding rapidly, providing strong competition for banks in the area of electronic remote payments. The potential for growth is particularly high in developing countries with a lower number of bank accounts.

A significant sector for mobile payment is international remittance. At present, limited options, with high fees, exist for foreign workers abroad needing to send money back to their country of origin. Service providers can expand their payment offering with international remittance services, which make it easier for users to send small amounts frequently, generating transaction revenue.

HomeSend eRemittance, part of the Payment Suite, is a new service providing international remittance and roaming recharge services. It will enable users to easily and quickly transfer airtime or money internationally, as well as to recharge their mobile phone credit from abroad.

Initially, HomeSend will be delivered as a service in conjunction with a leading carrier to carrier provider. eServGlobal will deploy, operate, maintain and support this service.

HomeSend can stand alone, or can be seamlessly integrated with eServGlobal eVoucher and eMoney solutions to provide a total payment service.

IMS Services Continuity in a Heterogeneous World

As always, the advantages of the IMS framework are the increased flexibility and control that IP-based networks offer service providers for the future. However, the recent IMS Forum in Paris was notable for the continuing lack of a killer application for IMS.

Some services which are showing movement towards IMS include m-commerce, mobile advertising, social networking, and data services, but the areas of most impact seem to be gaming, infotainment and location-based services. The impact of IMS on voice seems to be limited. Presence information can improve the user experience to deliver new revenue-generating services, but this brings with it the challenge of managing presence information across different networks.

In addition, a successful migration to IMS must encourage subscribers to use IMS services to achieve critical mass faster, to maximize ROI and to drive new revenue streams. Service providers need a gradual transition to IMS networks, to ensure a smooth subscriber and service migration while protecting existing network investment and proven revenue streams. eServGlobal can ensure seamless integration of new IMS services alongside legacy systems.

eServGlobal’s IMS solutions family has the key for service providers to unlock their IMS potential, providing high-performance and highly scalable multimedia session and event control, along with an intelligent routing system. It enables fixed, mobile and triple play service providers to develop and market next generation services and to ensure the continuity of their proven legacy services during and after their subscribers’ migration.
