Money Without Borders

Global mobility is higher than ever before, with an estimated 200 million diaspora workers around the world. The value of money being sent across borders is growing rapidly; remittance flows have reached US$320 billion, according to the GSM Association.

Money transfers from migrants in developed countries, to their dependants in their country of origin, are done by people who often have lower access to banking services, and so are a target demographic for mobile payment solutions.

eServGlobal has introduced an international remittance service, HomeSend eRemittance. Part of the Payment Suite, eRemittance allows subscribers to transfer eMoney or pre-paid credit, enabling service providers to tap into this significant market. This service is compatible with eServGlobal eVoucher and eMoney solutions to provide a total payment service (see Focus on Payment below for more details).

eRemittance allows subscribers to transfer value (prepaid credit or e-money) to a foreign subscriber, and receive value transfers. It performs recharge actions in real-time, and handles currency conversion, taxes and commissions. It is expected that international remittances using mobile payment will cost less for customers than traditional means via banks or post offices.

As well as remittance, the HomeSend eRoaming package allows foreign or domestic subscribers to recharge their prepaid credit using the service provider's top up products (using ATM, eVoucher or eRetail), or products from a foreign service provider, depending on whether they are at home or abroad.

The remittance and roaming recharge packages are available together or separately for maximum flexibility.

Focus on Payment

To stand out in a fast-evolving market, service providers can implement additional value-added services to attract new subscribers. Mobile payment is an emerging area with great potential to generate additional revenue.

Mobile payment covers the purchase of goods or services charged against the mobile account or to an external payment body. It creates an alternative money transfer system which is easy and convenient for customers, and does not rely as heavily on established banking infrastructure.

Applications of mobile payment already in use internationally include micropayments for expenditure such as public transport, bill payments, m-ticketing for events, cash in and cash out services, and person-to-person money transfers, including international remittances. In the future, mobile users may use their telephones for all forms of payment or money transfer.

eServGlobal's Payment Suite provide a comprehensive range of mobile payment solutions, which reduce the cost of transactions while increasing payment opportunities.

To tap into markets with low access to banking services, Payment Suite provides advanced m-payment solutions and settlement management. As outlined above, eRemittance enables service providers to allow subscribers to transfer eMoney.

eServGlobal's Top Up Suite complements the Payment Suite and simplifies user recharge. It addresses the growing need to unify all recharging methods, from any kind of channels using any type of funding, including voucher recharge codes, electronic funds, cash, bank accounts or credit cards. To eliminate voucher costs, M-POS eRetail enables service providers to manage and expand their voucherless distribution network efficiently.
