eServGlobal and Oberthur Card Systems Enhance Wataniya Algeria’s E-Retail Operations with Integrated M-Pos Solution

Paris, 12 November 2007

eServGlobal and Oberthur Card Systems have successfully deployed their integrated Mobile Point of Sales (M-POS) and SIM Browser solution at Wataniya Telecom Algeria.

eServGlobal Limited (LSE: ESG & ASX: ESV) and Oberthur Card Systems have successfully deployed their integrated Mobile Point of Sales (M-POS) and SIM Browser solution at Wataniya Telecom Algeria.

Wataniya Telecom Algeria, operating under the brand name of Nedjma, is Algeria's first multimedia mobile operator. Nedjma is running a state-of-the-art GPRS/EDGE network, providing advanced wireless voice and data services to a customer base of more than 3 million users in the country’s fast growing market.

Charging with paper vouchers is still used by 80% of subscribers worldwide. However, logistic costs due to stock, fraud or shortage can reach 20% in some markets. With electronic distribution (E-Retail), Oberthur Card Systems and eServGlobal enable operators to cut all these costs and thus to increase their margin.

Using an integrated electronic recharge solution, retailers are now able to recharge any Wataniya prepaid subscriber account through e-Top Up transactions, without the need for vouchers.

The eServGlobal M-POS solution enables operators to build and manage an electronic recharge distribution and sales network encompassing thousands of retailers or street sellers.

Oberthur Card Systems’ SIM browser provides secure transactions on a simple user-friendly interface. The SIM browser can also provide enhanced personalisation by being customized according to the profile of the POS agent, whether they are a dealer or retailer. Moreover, the Oberthur Card Systems’ applet can encrypt all communications with Mobile POS, ensuring a high level of security for all credit transfers performed by the POS agents.

Mr Joseph Ged, General Director, Wataniya Algeria said: "eServGlobal and Oberthur Card Systems have provided us with an extremely cost-effective, highly flexible and secure e-Top Up solution which not only allows us to rapidly expand our e-retail operations, but does so in a way that makes life simpler for our agents. This acquisition also reinforces Nedjma’s leadership in innovation”.
