eServGlobal has announced an agreement between the HomeSend service and major operator group, Qtel.
The Qtel Group is a leading mobile operator group with presence in 17 countries and over 77 million subscribers in the Middle East, North Africa and South East Asia. With this agreement, HomeSend becomes the preferred remittance supplier for the Qtel Group.
Qtel has a significant presence in key sending markets where a large number of residents and foreign workers regularly send a portion of their salaries overseas. Today, many of these workers lack the fast, secure and low cost means of remitting money that HomeSend provides. The partnership represents significant synergies with existing corridors; in 2010 total remittances from key Qtel countries Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE to the Philippines exceeded US$1.5 billion.
HomeSend continues to set the standard for international interoperability in mobile money transfer by creating a seamless connection between a variety of mobile money systems and financial institutions around the world. The HomeSend mobile remittance hub service is based on eServGlobal’s innovative technology and operated by BICS, who is a leading provider of international hubbing and connectivity services for more than 250 mobile operators worldwide. HomeSend, which benefits from a first mover advantage, is the only mobile-centric international remittance hub endorsed by the GSMA, with remittance corridors operating between countries including the UK, the Philippines, Belgium, Ghana and Morocco.
